If you have applied for immigration status (for example, The Global Talent Visa Outside the UK, you will need to pick up your BRP upon arrival in the UK.
Usually, you must do so before the visa sticker expires on your travel document or within 10 days of arrival in the UK, whichever occurs later.
If you have applied from within the UK, the way to obtain BRP will be different.
Check your decision letter. It will indicate that you must pick up your BRP from:
- This Post Office
- your sponsor, if you chose this option when submitting your application
for receiving BRP You must be over 18 years old.
What you will need
Bring your passport or travel document with a visa sticker when you are picking up your BRP.
You will receive a visa sticker when your visa application is approved.
Receiving BRP for a Child
You must be assigned to receive a child’s BRP, even if you are the parent of the child.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs will inform you within 5 working days if your application for BRP for a child is approved.
You don’t need to be appointed if you also get your own BRP and your name is on your child’s visa sticker.
Receiving a BRP from another post office
You can choose to receive BRP from another post office. To do this, you need to arrange this at your chosen post office and pay a fee.
Make sure that your selected Post office provides the “BRP collection service”.
Exit and re-entry in the UK before receiving the BRP
If you need to leave and re-enter the UK before obtaining the BRP, apply for a “BRP replacement visa”.
